I'm a network administrator and developer in northern Vermont with about thirty years in IT. I drive a Tesla, I keep a generator for outages, and at some point the obvious question came up: can one charge the other?

It can. But the useful details were scattered across forum threads, contradicted each other, and mostly came from people who hadn't done it. So I started measuring and writing it down.

What makes this different

Every number here comes off hardware I own. When I haven't tested something, I say so. When I get something wrong, I correct the page rather than quietly deleting it.
